Emons Spedition successfully concludes certification and assessment

10.10.2006 – The management system of Emons Cologne was externally audited in August 2006 pursuant to the criteria of DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, 14001:2004 and SQAS (module: Transport Service). The first-time certification in the area of quality and environmental management systems and the assessment under the SQAS module Transport Service were successfully concluded.

The two ISO standards ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 are international quality standards that are accepted worldwide. To the fore here are the areas of customer satisfaction, responsibility of corporate management, continuous improvement of both the general and the environmental management systems, and the measurement of organizational performance.

Supplementing the ISO standards in the ISO family, the SQAS (Safety and Quality Assessment System) also looks at the management areas of industrial safety and security in terms of anti-terrorism measures. SQAS is an auditing system which was worked out and introduced by a European working group of major chemical firms and logistics-service providers under the lead management of the CEFIC (Conseil Européen de l’Industrie Chimique). Depending on the business field, various modules are possible, each containing a questionnaire. Publication of the answers on Internet page www.sqas.org and the issue of activity reports create greater transparency, on the one hand, while supporting the dialogue between the Company and interested chemicals shippers, on the other.

The successful completion of the certification process and of the SQAS audit at Emons demonstrates that a systematic, safety- and environment-aware management approach is being pursued throughout the Company. This is reflected in continuous quality improvement, customer relations and customer satisfaction.
