Compliance measures at Emons Spedition

02.09.2008 – “Compliance” generally refers to the monitoring of, and adherence to, rules and statutory requirements.

The European Union uses the term ‘compliance’ for the UN-backed struggle against international terrorism. Since 2001, a general ban has been in place on any business contacts with specific listed persons, companies and organizations. Under this ban, all firms have a duty to take in-house measures to prevent the initiation and cultivation of such contacts. In any non-compliance with these rules, a company runs the risk of prison sentences and fines, but also of being included in sanction lists.

Emons Spedition using special compliance software

To meet these stipulations, Emons Spedition, too, checks each incoming and outgoing shipment using special compliance software. Should a sender or recipient name be identical with a name on the constantly updated sanction lists, loading of the shipment concerned is discontinued during the time required for detailed checks. In a specific case, this may lead to delays in the delivery of shipments. Emons Spedition makes efforts to minimize the time outlays for checks due to the high scrutiny requirements thanks to constant software optimization.
