Emons Rail Cargo
an environment- and cost-aware combined-transport concept
23.05.2007 - At Emons, environment is writ large as an issue in both national and international partial and full loads. In 1969 already, Emons became a founding member of Kombiverkehr GmbH & Co. KG, so that the company was backing low-impact transport systems early on. This commitment was also confirmed in 2006 by the certification of its quality and environment-management systems. Emons is dealing with the massive increase in motorized and air traffic and in shipping and helping cope with the associated burdens from noise and greenhouse gases, first, by having its branches located close to combined-transport terminals and, second, by providing for intermodal transport using swap bodies and "piggy-back" transport.
Big potential in Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt
Combined transport with Emons Rail CargoThe economic potential of the federal states of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt has steadily grown in recent years thanks to successful industrial settlements. In this respect, it is the automotive sector, trade and logistics in particular that are playing an important role – alongside mid-sized manufacturing industry. In freight services, these states are of huge significance in transit traffic and in imports and exports.
- Ecological transport thanks to lower exhaust and noise emissions per load unit
- DIN EN ISO 9001, 14001 certified
- Preventing traffic collapse
- Lower susceptibility in the case of loading-space fluctuations
- Greater safety and security in weather- and road-traffic-related disruptions
- Increased attractiveness for companies with an environmental strategy
The freight hubs Dresden and Leipzig, with their transshipment stations and an airport, but also thanks to their good link-up to autobahns, have an excellent traffic infrastructure. This enables the region to perform efficient inner-German and international logistics services. The transport sectors in Saxony, Poland and the Czech Republic are able to shift long-distance transports on to the rails, e.g. to seaports.
Emons Rail Cargo provides environmentally-sound and efficient links
In order to meet these ecological and economic requirements, Emons has set up a container-train link Hamburg-Leipzig-Dresden (and back). Emons´ Rail Cargo trains run five times a week in both directions and reach Hamburg´s container terminals in 24 hours.
Emons´ sophisticated combined-transport concept meets its customers´ demands in complex production processes and in procurement and distribution logistics. At the same time, its environmentally-friendly service provides more space on the roads and lowers traffic noise and air pollution.
