Training initiative: Emons is at it again!
24.08.2006 - This year, Emons is again supporting the German government’s training initiative "fit for work". In view of the strained situation for training places in Germany, Emons is expanding its apprenticeship capacities and adding 15% training places on offer.
With the training-place initiative, Germany’s Federal government, federal states and business associations have again given an undertaking this year to offer vocational training to all young people willing and able to undergo training.
According to the 2005 vocational-training report by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the German logistics sector signed 12,046 training contracts in 2004. This is equivalent to approx. 3.7% of all new contracts. In the following year, the total rose to 14,963 or some 4.7%.
Emons Spedition currently employs 200 trainees. Here, the careers "Specialist in warehousing logistics" and "Specialist stockkeeper" account for about 20% of the total, and "Forwarding and logistics services clerk" for some 80%. The target set by the government of a training rate averaging 7% in German companies is being successfully achieved by Emons with its rate of 13%.
And the experience of recent decades has proved: Emons’ trainees demonstrate an independent work ethic and a willingness to assume responsibility in addition to their expertise and technical knowledge. Also, brief familiarization periods and comprehensive knowledge of work processes in companies offer most of the trainees good opportunities of being taken on.
